SIGNIFICANCE AND USE The solidification point of bisphenol A is a direct indication of its purity, although it gives no information as to the nature of any impurities present. High purity bisphenol A has a solidification point of approximately 157°C. This test method can be used for internal quality control or for setting specifications. SCOPE 1.1 This test method describes the procedure for determination of the solidification point of bisphenol A (4,4′-isopropylidene diphenol). 1.2 The method is applicable for determination of the solidification point between 150 and 157°C. 1.3 In determining conformance of the test results using this method to applicable specifications, results shall be rounded off in accordance with the rounding-off method of Practice E 29. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
