BS 5666-6 is the sixth part of the BS 5666 series of standards that describes procedures for the quantitative determination of pentachlorophenol (PCP), pentachlorophenyl laurate (PCPL),¾-hexachlorocyclohexane (¾-HCH) and dieldrin present in preservative solutions and treated wood. Both colorimetric and gas-liquid chromatographic (GLC) methods are given for the determination of PCP and PCPL but only a GLC method is given for the determination of ¾-HCH and dieldrin as no suitable specific chemical methods are available for these chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides.
