1 Scope This part of BS 5871 specifies installation and maintenance requirements for inset live fuel effect gas fires of heat input not exceeding 15 kW (16.6 kW based on gross calorific value) burning 2nd and 3rd family gases for the purpose of heating rooms or spaces in domestic (see Note 5) or commercial premises. Combined appliances of the type where a fire is used in conjunction with a boiler or circulator are also covered in so far as the installation of the combined appliance is concerned.
