1   Scope This part of BS 6100 defines terms for buildings and civil engineering works, including:

a) external works;

b) walls and cladding;

c) roofs and roofing;

d) floors and ceilings;

e) stairs and circulation elements;

f) doors, windows and openings;

g) jointing products;

h) builders’ hardware and accessories;

i) finishes;

j) signs and signing.

This standard does not define terms for structural members and foundations (covered in BS 6100‑4) or building services (covered in BS 6100‑8).
