Abstract
What is BS 6783-3 – Nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys about?
BS 6783-3 standard is a part of the BS 6783 series that discusses the determination of cobalt in ferronickel by flame atomic absorption spectrometry for sampling and analysis of nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys. Nickel alloys containing 72-83% nickel have the best soft magnetic properties and are used in transformers, inductors, magnetic amplifiers, magnetic shields and memory storage devices. BS 6783-3 specifies a flame atomic absorption spectrometric method for the determination of the cobalt content of ferronickel in the range 0,025 to 2,5 % (m/m).
