Abstract
What is BS 6783-6 – Nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys about?
BS 6783-6 is a British standard and the sixth part of the BS 6783 series that discusses the determination of sulphur in nickel by methylene blue molecular absorption spectrometry after the generation of hydrogen sulphide. Nickel alloys containing 72-83% nickel have the best soft magnetic properties and are used in transformers, inductors, magnetic amplifiers, magnetic shields and memory storage devices. BS 6783-6 specifies a molecular absorption spectrometric method after the generation of hydrogen sulfide for the determination of the sulfur content of refined nickel in the range 0,000 1 to 0,002 % (m/m).
