What is BS EN 12521 –  D omestic table guidelines about  ?

Tables are an integral part of household furniture. All tables – glass-top or otherwise, need to be safe for users. BS EN 12521 specifies the minimum requirements for the safety, strength and durability of all types of domestic tables for use by adults, including those with glass in their construction. BS EN 12521 does not apply to office tables and office desks, tables for non-domestic use, tables for educational institutions and outdoor tables for which European Standards exist. Note 1: BS EN 12521 does not apply to tables where the table top is not fixed to the understructure, i.e., when applying test 3, Table 2, the top becomes detached from the understructure.
