BS EN 16451 is a European standard on railway applications that discusses brake pad holders for braking in railways to ensure the safety of passengers. BS EN 16451 applies to the brake pad holders with which the rail vehicles of main-line railways, regional and suburban railways are fitted. Brake pad holders under BS EN 16451 are to be made from ferrous materials e.g., cast iron, cast steel, or forged steel. Note: Brake pad holders made of non-ferrous materials are not subject to BS EN 16451.
