Abstract
What is BS EN 6033 - Carbon fibre reinforced plastics for aerospace applications about ?
Product and component quality is paramount for aerospace vessels. The delivery of high-quality components contributes to the safety of those on board. Carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRPs) are extremely strong and light fibre-reinforced plastics that contain carbon fibres. CFRPs can be expensive to produce but are commonly used wherever high strength-to-weight ratio and stiffness (rigidity) are required, such as aerospace, superstructures of ships, automotive, civil engineering, sports equipment, and an increasing number of consumer and technical applications. BS EN 6033 specifies the procedure to determine the mode I interlaminar fracture toughness energy GIC of carbon fibre composites manufactured from unidirectional tape or woven fabric. BS EN 6033 does not give any directions necessary to meet health and safety requirements. It is the responsibility of the user of BS EN 6033 to consult and establish appropria...
