Abstract
What is BS EN 60512-16-7 - Assessing the contact deformation of connectors about?
Electrical connectors are used to join electrical conductors to create an electrical circuit. BS EN 60512-16-7 , when required by the detail specification, is used for testing connectors within the scope of IEC technical committee 48. It may also be used for similar devices when specified in a detailed specification. The object of BS EN 60512-16-7 is to detail a standard test method to assess the effectiveness of contacts to resist deformation (damage) from crimping operations. Although this test is intended for cylindrical contacts, especially machined contacts, it is applicable to contacts with other geometries and construction. In which case, the detail specification shall contain sufficient detail, given under clause 4, to enable the test to be done.
