Abstract
What is BS EN 60695-2-11 – Fire hazard testing about?
BS EN 60695-2-11 is an international standard that discusses the glow-wire flammability test method for end-products (GWEPT) for fire hazard testing. Glow wire testing is an example of the indirect flame method. Test results from applying these methods provide a way to compare the materials' tendency to resist ignition, self-extinguish flames (should ignition occur), and the ability to not spread or propagate fire via dripping. BS EN 60695-2-11 specifies a test method on an end product. It is intended to simulate the effects of thermal stresses produced by an electrically heated source to represent a fire hazard. This BS EN 60695-2-11 is used to check that, under defined test conditions, an end product exposed to an electrically heated source has either a limited ability to ignite or, if it ignites, a limited abilit...
