Abstract
What is ISO 7539-4 – Corrosion of metal and alloys about?
ISO 7539-4 is an international standard and a part of the ISO 7539 series that discusses the Preparation and use of uniaxially loaded tension specimens for corrosion of metals and alloys. Corrosion is a type of oxidisation whereas rusting is a part of corrosion. If an alloy contains ferrous metal (iron), it will rust. ISO 7539-4 covers procedures for designing, preparing and using uniaxially loaded tension test specimens for investigating the susceptibility of metal to stress corrosion. The term “metal” as used in this part of ISO 7539 includes alloys.
