Recommendations and guidance on access and facilities for fire-fighting in buildings. Abstract
This part of BS 5588 provides recommendations and guidance on access and facilities for fire-fighting in buildings. The principal changes included in this edition of the standard include: a) new recommendations for vehicle access, water supplies, fire control centre, drawings for fire service use and smoke control; b) removal of all recommendations relating to fire-fighting lifts that are now covered in BS EN 81-72; c) updating of recommendations to reflect new regulations and changes in practice since the previous edition.
