Abstract
What is ISO 8502 ‑ 6 about?
ISO 8502 discusses the preparation of steel substrates for paint application. ISO 8502 series covers tests for the assessment of surface cleanliness. ISO 8502 ‑ 6 specifies the Bresle method for extracting water-soluble contaminants from a surface, for analysis.
The Bresle method is suitable for use in the field to determine the presence of water-soluble contaminants before painting or a similar treatment.
Note1: The extraction method might give a false negative or not take all the water-soluble material off the surface because of:
