What is ISO 8781-3 – Assessment of dispersion characteristics due to changes in gloss about? ISO 8781-3 discusses pigments and extenders. The aim of the ISO 8781 series is to provide best industry practices for assessing dispersion characteristics that help in determining the characteristics of paints. ISO 8781-3 is the first part of the ISO 8781 series of standards that specifies a method for assessing, on the basis of specular gloss, the dispersion characteristics of pigments that have been dispersed by one of the methods of dispersion described in ISO 8780. It should be read in conjunction with ISO 8780-1. The method is of general use for comparing similar pigments, for example a test pigment against an agreed reference pigment.
