IEC 60384-9:2015 is applicable to fixed capacitors of ceramic dielectric with a defined temperature coefficient (dielectric Class 2), intended for use in electronic equipment, including leadless capacitors but excluding fixed surface mount multilayer capacitors of ceramic dielectric. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2005. This fourth edition is a result of maintenance activities related to the previous edition. All changes that have been agreed upon can be categorized as minor revisions.
Abstract
Overview
IEC 60384-9:2015 is an international standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that specifies the requirements for fixed ceramic dielectric capacitors classified as Class 2. These capacitors are integral components in a wide range of electronic equipment, valued for their dielectric properties with defined temperature coefficients. This fourth edition, released in 2015, updates and replaces the previous 2005 edition with minor revisions focused on maintenance and technical clarifications. Notably, IEC 60384-9:2015 covers both leaded and leadless fixed ceramic capacitors but excludes fixed surface mount multilayer ceramic capacitors.
This standard establishes crucial specifications regarding the design, characteristics, testing, and quality assessment procedures to ensure reliable capacitor performance under specified operating conditions. It is essential for manufacturers, designers, and quality assurance professionals in electronics industries dealing with Class 2 ceramic capacitors.
