IEC 60529:1989

Overview

IEC 60529:1989, commonly known as the IP Code standard, is an internationally recognized benchmark developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This standard classifies and specifies the degrees of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment, particularly those with a rated voltage not exceeding 72.5 kV. It addresses the protection of equipment against the ingress of solid foreign objects (including body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water.
