IEC 60601-2-46:2023

Overview

IEC 60601-2-46:2023 - "Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-46" - is the fourth edition particular standard that defines basic safety and essential performance requirements for operating tables. It applies to operating tables whether or not they contain electrical parts and includes transporters used to move detachable table tops. This edition cancels and replaces IEC 60601-2-46:2016 and constitutes a technical revision with structural alignment to IEC 60601-1:2005 and its AMD1:2012 and AMD2:2020 updates.

The standard is focused on safe design, testing and documentation to reduce electrical, mechanical and other hazards in operating-room patient-support surfaces.
