In general, this part of IEC 60730 applies to energy regulators for use in, on, or in association with equipment for household and similar use, including energy regulators for heating, air conditioning and similar applications. The equipment may use electricity, gas, oil, solid fuel, solar thermal energy, etc. or a combination thereof.
Abstract
Overview
IEC 60730-2-11:2006 is an international standard developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that specifies the particular requirements for automatic electrical energy regulators intended for household and similar uses. This Part 2-11 is part of the IEC 60730 series, which covers automatic electrical controls used in domestic settings. It addresses energy regulators used in equipment for heating, air conditioning, and analogous applications that may utilize various energy sources such as electricity, gas, oil, solid fuels, solar thermal energy, or combinations thereof.
The standard ensures these energy regulators meet stringent safety, reliability, and functionality criteria tailored to their application in household environments. It complements IEC 60730-1 by providing additional or modified requirements specific to energy regulators, including electronic controls.
