Overview
IEC 61158-5-12:2019 - "Industrial communication networks - Fieldbus specifications - Part 5-12: Application layer service definition - Type 12 elements" specifies the structure and services of the IEC fieldbus application layer at the FAL (fieldbus application layer) user boundary and the Systems Management boundary. Aligned with the OSI Basic Reference Model (ISO/IEC 7498-1) and OSI application layer structure (ISO/IEC 9545), this fourth edition (2019) replaces the 2014 edition and contains technical corrections and editorial clarifications. The standard defines service primitives, ASEs (Application Service Elements), communication models and conformance guidance for Type 12 fieldbus elements.
