Overview

IEC 61196-6:2021 is the international sectional specification for CATV drop cables within the IEC 61196 series on coaxial communication cables. It defines construction, identification, electrical and environmental requirements for coaxial drop cables used for analogue and digital one- and two‑way signal transmission. The standard covers operating frequencies from 5 MHz to 1 000 MHz or 5 MHz to 3 000 MHz and an operating temperature range of −40 °C to +70 °C. Edition 2.0 (2021) replaces the 2009 edition and includes an extended scope and revised sheath marking and labelling.
