Overview

IEC 61892-3:2012 - Mobile and fixed offshore units: Electrical installations - Part 3: Equipment defines equipment-level requirements for electrical plant used in the offshore petroleum industry. It covers electrical equipment on mobile and fixed offshore units (including pipeline/pumping or “pigging” stations, compressor stations and exposed single buoy moorings) used for drilling, processing and storage. The standard applies to a.c. installations up to 35 000 V and d.c. installations up to 1 500 V (nominal). It applies to permanent, temporary, transportable and hand‑held equipment, but excludes medical rooms and tankers.
