Applies only to newly manufactured static watt-hour meters of accuracy classes 1 and 2, for the measurement of alternating current electrical active energy in 50 Hz or 60 Hz networks and it applies to their type tests only. It applies only to static watt-hour meters for indoor and outdoor application consisting of a measuring element and register(s) enclosed together in a meter case. Overview - IEC 62053-21:2003 (Static watt‑hour meters, classes 1 & 2)
IEC 62053-21:2003 specifies the particular requirements and type‑test procedures for newly manufactured static watt‑hour meters (active energy) of accuracy classes 1 and 2 for 50 Hz or 60 Hz a.c. networks. It applies to indoor and outdoor meters where the measuring element and register(s) are enclosed together in one case, and it is intended for type testing (not routine or acceptance testing). The standard excludes meters with voltages >600 V (line‑to‑line), portable meters, reference meters and separate data interfaces.
