Overview

ISO 10835:2007 - "Direct reduced iron and hot briquetted iron - Sampling and sample preparation" defines the theory, principles and basic requirements for sampling and preparing samples of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) and Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI). The standard covers mechanical and manual sampling methods for lots under transfer (loading/discharging), and procedures to obtain representative samples for determining chemical composition, moisture content and physical properties. It applies to sampling from belt conveyors and other ore-handling equipment and includes DRI in the form of reduced pellets and reduced lump ore.

Note on safety: the standard warns that DRI/HBI can react with air or water (producing heat and hydrogen), so appropriate safety measures are required.
