This document specifies the dimensions and tolerances of taper fits between the following: — straight electrodes and electrode holders; — electrode adapters connecting electrode caps and electrode holders; — female electrode caps and electrode adapters; — male electrode caps and electrode adapters. NOTE Electrode holders and electrode caps utilizing locking tapers are addressed in ISO 20168.

ISO 1089:2023 - "Resistance welding equipment - Electrode taper fits for spot welding equipment - Dimensions" defines the dimensions and tolerances of electrode taper fits used in spot welding. The standard covers taper interfaces between straight electrodes and electrode holders, electrode adapters, and male/female electrode caps and adapters. It specifies taper types (A, B, C, D) and provides dimensional tables, tolerances and marking/designation rules for consistent interchangeability and fit quality in resistance welding equipment.
