Overview
ISO 11413:2019 specifies a standardized method for preparing test-piece assemblies between polyethylene (PE) pipes (or spigot-ended fittings) and electrofusion fittings (for example socket couplers and saddles). It defines how to condition, dimension, prepare and joint test specimens so that subsequent mechanical and performance tests are reproducible and consistent with relevant product standards. Note: for this standard, PE covers PE, PE‑RT and PE‑X.

- Fusion energy and electrical parameters: Fusion energy tolerances, voltage/current control and calculation methods are covered (Annex D) and tied to ISO 12176-2. Energy measurements should exclude terminal contact resistance where applicable.
- Procedural controls: Fittings shall not be used within 170 h of manufacture; assemblies must be mounted and fused per the fitting manufacturer’s written procedures and jointing parameters.
