The method locates the pipe circumference region most susceptible to solvent attack (using dichloromethane), extracts a C‑ring test piece from that location, introduces a controlled notch and subjects the C‑ring to a sustained flexural stress to measure fracture behavior after a specified loading time. The standard also provides procedures for measuring alternative fracture toughness levels.
