ISO 12619-12:2017 specifies tests and requirements for the gas-tight housing and ventilation hose, a compressed gaseous hydrogen (CGH2) and hydrogen/natural gas blend fuel system component intended for use on the types of motor vehicles defined in ISO 3833. It is applicable to vehicles using CGH2 in accordance with ISO 14687-1 or ISO 14687-2 and hydrogen/natural gas blend using natural gas in accordance with ISO 15403-1 and ISO/TR 15403-2. It is not applicable to the following: a) liquefied hydrogen (LH2) fuel system components; b) fuel containers; c) stationary gas engines; d) container mounting hardware; e) electronic fuel management; f) refuelling receptacles; g) fuel cell vehicles. NOTE 1 It is recognized that miscellaneous components not specifically covered herein can be examined to meet the criteria of ISO 12619-12:2017 and tested according to the appropriate functional tests. NOTE 2 All references to pressure in ISO 12619-12:2017 are considered gauge pressures unless otherwise specified.

ISO 12619-12:2017 specifies tests and requirements for gas-tight housings and ventilation hoses used in road-vehicle compressed gaseous hydrogen (CGH2) and hydrogen/natural gas blend fuel systems. It applies to vehicle types defined in ISO 3833 and to vehicles using CGH2 (ISO 14687-1/2) or hydrogen/natural gas blends (ISO 15403-1 / ISO/TR 15403-2). The standard is part of the ISO 12619 series and focuses on containment and safe venting of permeation gas and small leaks from primary pressure-retaining components. All references to pressure are gauge pressures unless stated otherwise.

- Venting ability and pressure retention: Under a simulated internal leak (0.5 g/s nitrogen or dry air), the gas-tight housing or ventilation hose shall not retain more than 50 kPa pressure.
- Pull-off strength: Ventilation hose connections must withstand a tensile load test (static pull at up to 100 N/min) and have a minimum pull-off force of 100 N.
- Test matrix: Table 1 of the standard references applicable functional and environmental tests (leakage, corrosion, ageing, vibration, etc.) as aligned with ISO 12619-2.
