This document specifies a method for the gravimetric determination of the purity of nicotine using tungstosilicic acid. The method is applicable to pure nicotine or nicotine salts used to calibrate analytical methods for the determination of nicotine in the field of tobacco, tobacco products and smoke analysis.

Overview
ISO 13276:2020 specifies a using tungstosilicic acid. The standard applies to used as calibration materials in analytical testing of tobacco, tobacco products and smoke. The method is based on forming an insoluble precipitate which is collected, dried/ignited and weighed to calculate purity.
