ISO 14123-1:2015 establishes principles for the control of risks to health resulting from hazardous substances emitted by machinery. ISO 14123-1:2015 is not applicable to substances that are a hazard to health solely because of their explosive, flammable or radioactive properties or their behaviour at extremes of temperature or pressure.

It is a type‑B1 standard (guidance on a specific safety aspect) intended to support machine design, risk assessment and the selection of protective measures.
Note: ISO 14123-1:2015 does not apply to substances that are hazardous solely because they are explosive, flammable, radioactive or behave as hazards only at extremes of temperature or pressure.
