This International Standard establishes ergonomic specifications for the presentation of auditory information related to transport information and control systems (TICS) through speech or sounds. It applies primarily to the use of auditory displays to the driver when the vehicle is in motion, but it may also be applied when the vehicle is stationary. ISO 15006:2011 - Road vehicles: Ergonomic aspects of transport information and control systems - Specifications for in-vehicle auditory presentation - defines ergonomic requirements and recommendations for presenting auditory information (speech and sounds) from Transport Information and Control Systems (TICS). The standard focuses on in-vehicle auditory displays used primarily while the vehicle is in motion and aims to maximize signal intelligibility and utility while preventing auditory or mental overload.

- Medium-term: 3–10 s
- Longer-term: >10 s
- Priority and safety warnings: Time-critical safety warnings always have temporal priority over non-safety signals. Redundancy (e.g., visual + auditory) is recommended for critical messages.
- Coding: Supports speech, non-speech tonal signals, or combinations. Tonal signals should be limited in number and designed for distinguishability and comprehensibility.
