ISO 16119-1:2013

Overview

ISO 16119-1:2013 - "Agricultural and forestry machinery - Environmental requirements for sprayers - Part 1: General" sets out the general environmental requirements for the design and performance of sprayers used in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and related areas. The standard focuses on minimizing the risk of environmental contamination during use (including foreseeable misuse), specifying requirements for sprayer identification and the minimum content of the instruction handbook. ISO 16119-1 is intended to be used together with the other parts of ISO 16119 that address specific sprayer types. It does not apply to knapsack sprayers or equipment manufactured before its publication date, and it does not cover safety aspects (see ISO 4254-6).

  • Nozzles and filters must be identifiable (manufacturer, type, size/mesh size) using colour codes compliant with ISO 10625 and ISO 19732 or equivalent marking explained in the handbook.
  • Provision for operator to display the name of the pesticide in use.

• Instruction handbook content

  • Minimum required topics: preparation, usage conditions, calibration checks, maintenance intervals, wear-part replacement, operating limits, cleaning/emptying procedures, drift minimization and legal/label guidance.
