Developed by ISO Technical Committee ISO/TC 48 (Laboratory glassware and related apparatus), Subcommittee SC 2 (Non-volumetric laboratory glassware), this standard ensures uniformity in dimensions, materials, and construction for glassware widely used in laboratory testing and manufacturing.

This second edition revises the original 1976 standard by updating the dimensions, tolerances, materials, and testing methods, aligning them with standards for borosilicate glass 3.3. The standard facilitates compatibility and safety in laboratory environments.
