ISO 18309:2014 covers selection criteria to assist procurers in selecting the appropriate incinerator for their needs. ISO 18309:2014 is a companion document to ISO 13617. ISO 18309:2014 does not apply to incinerator systems on special incinerator ships, for example, for burning industrial wastes such as chemicals, manufacturing residues etc.

ISO 18309:2014 - Ships and marine technology - Incinerator sizing and selection - Guidelines provides practical selection criteria to help procurers choose the appropriate shipboard incinerator. It is a companion document to ISO 13617 and focuses on sizing, location, waste classification and operational considerations for typical vessel incinerators. It does not apply to dedicated incinerator ships used for industrial wastes (chemicals, manufacturing residues, etc.).
