ISO 18753:2017 specifies a method for determining the absolute particle density of fine ceramic powders or sintered parts using liquid pycnometry. NOTE Other pycnometer methods like gas pycnometers (e.g. helium pycnometer), where a gas is used as media, also exist.
Abstract
Overview
ISO 18753:2017 describes a standardized method to determine the of fine ceramic powders and small sintered parts. The standard specifies sample preparation, suitable immersion liquids, required apparatus, a degassing procedure (vacuum or ultrasonic), calculation steps, repeatability criteria and reporting requirements. It is intended for laboratories performing density measurements on advanced/technical ceramics using a (liquid medium). Note: other pycnometry methods (e.g. helium/gas pycnometer) also exist.
