Overview

ISO 19085-5:2024 - "Woodworking machines - Safety - Part 5: Dimension saws" specifies safety requirements and protective measures for dimension saws used in continuous production to cut solid wood and wood-like materials. The standard addresses all significant hazards (listed in Annex A), including those occurring during normal operation, adjustment, maintenance, transport, assembly, dismantling and scrapping. Reasonably foreseeable misuse is considered. The document applies to machines fitted with additional units such as power-operated sliding tables, scoring devices, grooving milling units (≤20 mm), power feed units, tilting/raising saw devices and workpiece clamping. It does not apply to machines for explosive atmospheres or machines manufactured before publication.
