This document specifies general requirements for the multivalve component of liquefied petroleum gas fuel, intended for use on the types of motor vehicles as defined in ISO 3833. It also provides general design principles and specifies requirements for instructions and marking. This document is applicable to vehicles (mono-fuel, bi-fuel or dual-fuel applications) using gaseous fuels in accordance with ISO 9162. It is not applicable to the following: a) fuel containers; b) stationary gas engines; c) container mounting hardware; d) electronic fuel management; e) refuelling receptacles. It is recognized that miscellaneous components not specifically addressed herein can be examined for compliance with the criteria of any applicable part of the ISO 20766 series, including testing to the appropriate functional tests. All references to pressure in this document are considered gauge pressures unless otherwise specified. This document applies to devices which have a service pressure in the range of 110 kPa (butane rich at 20 °C) and 840 kPa (propane at 20 °C), hereinafter referred to in this document. Other service pressures can be accommodated by adjusting the pressure by the appropriate factor (ratio).

Overview
ISO 20766-13:2022 defines the general requirements for multivalve components used in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel systems for road vehicles (as defined in ISO 3833). The standard sets out design principles, marking and instruction requirements and identifies applicable tests to verify safe operation and compliance. It applies to vehicles in mono-fuel, bi-fuel or dual-fuel configurations using gaseous fuels per ISO 9162 and covers devices with service pressures within the specified LPG range.

Marking and traceability

Construction and assembly
- The multivalve shall comply with the provisions of ISO 20766-1 and ISO 20766-2.
- A multivalve may integrate multiple accessory functions in one housing, such as an 80 % stop valve, level indicator, pressure relief valve (PRV), remotely controlled service valve with excess-flow device, pressure relief device (PRD) and non-return valve, among others.

Service pressure range
- The document applies to devices with a service pressure in the range of 110 kPa (butane rich at 20 °C) to 840 kPa (propane at 20 °C). Other service pressures can be accommodated by adjusting pressures using the appropriate factor (ratio).

Notably, hydrostatic strength testing is performed at 2,25 times the working pressure, and leakage and functional tests are carried out at specified temperatures and pressure factors as described in the standard.
