Overview
ISO 22444-1:2020 establishes a unified vocabulary for rare earth minerals, oxides and other compounds and for related production processes. The standard defines core terms such as rare earth element (REE), rare earth oxide (REO), rare earth mineral, ore, deposit, grade, purity and impurity. It is intended as a reference for producers, consumers, traders, inspectors, researchers and educators to reduce discrepancies and trade disputes caused by inconsistent terminology.
