This document specifies, for ropes of different kinds, a method of determining each of the following characteristics: — linear density; — diameter; — lay length; — braid pitch; — elongation; — breaking force. This document also provides a method for measuring water repellence, lubrication and finish content, when requested by the customer.

Overview
ISO 2307:2019 - Fibre ropes: Determination of certain physical and mechanical properties defines standardized test methods for measuring key physical and mechanical characteristics of fibre ropes. This fifth-edition ISO document (2019) replaces and is intended for use in laboratory testing, quality control and conformity assessment of ropes used across marine, industrial, lifting, sports and general textile applications.
