This document specifies a method for determining crease recovery angle of fabric specimen while placing it in such a way that the folded line is vertical to horizontal plane for a specified time after removal of creasing load. This document is applicable for all kinds of textile fabrics.

Overview
ISO 2313-2:2021 - Textiles - Determination of the recovery from creasing of a folded specimen of fabric by measuring the angle of recovery - Part 2: Method of the vertically folded specimen - specifies a laboratory method to measure the crease recovery angle of fabrics when the folded line is made vertical after removal of a creasing load. The method applies to all kinds of textile fabrics and gives reproducible rapid and delay crease recovery values that indicate a fabric’s ability to recover from accidental creasing.

- Loading device (weight-piece, pressure board with boss, specimen holder board and clips).
- Instrument for measuring crease recovery angle (protractor with 0.5° resolution or an automatic image-acquisition tester described in Annex A).
- Timer and handling aids (smooth-edge holder or rubber glove).
- Atmosphere: Conditioning and testing atmosphere per ISO 139 (standard atmospheres).
- Results: Mean values calculated and rounded to one decimal place; separate results for face-to-face and back-to-back folds, and for length (warp) and transverse (weft) directions.
- Test report: Must reference ISO 2313-2:2021 and include sample ID, number of specimens, folded surface, crease direction, mean rapid/delay angles, deviations, and test date.
