This International Standard specifies manufacturing, testing, and marking requirements for solid-section fork arms, for quantity production and with all types of mounting. These include but are not limited to, hook, shaft or pin, bolt-on and roller type fork arms.

ISO 2330:2002 defines manufacturing, testing and marking requirements for solid-section fork arms used on fork-lift trucks. It applies to fork arms produced in quantity and covers common mounting types (hook-on, shaft/pin, bolt-on, roller, etc.). The standard sets mandatory tests for prototypes and provisions for periodic testing in production to ensure structural performance, toughness and fatigue resistance.

- Yield test: Load applied twice (gradually, without shock), held 30 s - no permanent deflection allowed between readings. Test load for capacities up to 5 500 kg is three times the specified capacity; higher-capacity arms use a reduced safety factor (minimum specified).
- Impact test: Charpy V-notch specimens per ISO 148 at −20 °C; minimum energy requirement is 27 J.
- Fatigue (dynamic) test: Required for prototypes at or below specified capacity/load-centre limits. Dynamic peak load typically 1.25 × specified capacity (minimum 0.1 × capacity). Test frequency limited to ≤ 10 Hz, reduce if fork temperature exceeds 50 °C or resonance occurs. No cracks or permanent deformation allowed after the test.
- Surface-crack detection
- Visual inspection plus a non‑destructive testing (NDT) method; magnetic particle inspection is recommended, with special attention to heels, welds and heat-affected zones.
- Marking
- Each fork arm must be permanently marked with: specified capacity (kg), load centre (mm), manufacturer ID, and date or serial number. Truck manufacturer info may be added by request.
