ISO 25177:2019 - "Soil quality - Field soil description" is an international guidance standard for recording and reporting field observations of soils and their environmental context. Published as the second edition in 2019, it applies to natural, near‑natural, urban and industrial sites and covers observations at project, plot, layer/horizon and specific‑constituent levels. The standard explains how to describe natural and anthropogenic (artificial) materials, including coarse elements, and how to present field soil data for surveys, investigations and environmental assessments.
