Specifies the way in which single-core, multi-core and coaxial cables used in the wiring of aircraft are to be marked as to type, size, origin, date etc. in order to facilitate servicing, the investigation of faults and replacement. Also specifies the approved methods for the marking of cores. Supplements those standards relating to marking that already exist. Allows for the codification of manufacturer's identities by individual countries.

ISO 2574:1994 - "Aircraft - Electrical cables - Identification marking" specifies standardized methods for marking single‑core, multi‑core and coaxial aircraft cables to record type, size, origin, manufacturer and date. Its purpose is to improve traceability for servicing, fault investigation and safe replacement with equivalent parts. The standard supplements national and other marking standards and references ISO 3166 country codes for origin identification.
