ISO 3108:2017 specifies a method of tensile test to destruction for determining the actual breaking force of steel wire ropes as given in ISO 2408. It is also applicable for other ropes, unless the International Standard concerned specifically excludes its use, or gives another method.

ISO 3108:2017 - Steel wire ropes - Test method - Determination of measured breaking force - specifies a tensile test-to-destruction procedure to determine the actual (measured) breaking force of steel wire ropes referenced in . The method is also applicable to other rope types unless a specific standard excludes it or prescribes another method. The standard updates and consolidates sample preparation, machine requirements, procedure, safety and reporting for reliable breaking-force measurement.
