Abstract
Overview
ISO 3262-4:2023 specifies requirements and test methods for whiting (chalk) as an extender (filler). This second edition updates the original 1998 standard and defines compositional limits, laboratory test procedures and sampling rules to assess the quality of natural calcium carbonate derived from chalk used in pigment and filler applications.

- Colour / whiteness - ISO 3262-1.
- Resistivity of aqueous extract - ISO 787-14.
- Sampling: Representative sampling per ISO 15528.
- Detailed test procedure: Clause 6 describes the method for determining hydrochloric-acid-insoluble matter (reagents, apparatus, boiling with ~25% HCl, filtration on 0.8 µm membrane, drying at 105 ±2 °C, weighing and calculation using (m2 − m1)/m0 × 100).
