The methods given are applicable to increment sampling of consignments supplied both in bulk and in packed form during loading or unloading, and to sampling of consignments in stationary stockpiles. Specifies the methods of both manual and mechanical sampling. Should be read in conjunction with the relevant International Standards for individual types of ferroalloys.

ISO 3713:1987 establishes the general rules for sampling and preparation of samples of ferroalloys. Developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), this standard ensures reliable methods are used for increment sampling of ferroalloy consignments in bulk, in packed form during loading or unloading, and from stationary stockpiles. The guidelines are designed for both manual and mechanical sampling approaches.
