ISO 3776-3:2009 specifies the requirements for pelvic restraint (seat) belt assemblies intended to be used by the operators of agricultural tractors and self-propelled machinery.

Overview
ISO 3776-3:2009 - “Tractors and machinery for agriculture - Seat belts - Part 3: Requirements for assemblies” specifies performance, marking and testing requirements for pelvic restraint (seat) belt assemblies used by operators of agricultural tractors and self‑propelled machinery. The part sets practical assembly-level rules for webbing, hardware (buckles, retractors, attachments), corrosion and durability testing, and user information. Note: assemblies that meet UNECE R16:2000 (clause 6, excluding 6.4) or SAE J386 are deemed to comply.

Scope & general design
- Designed for single occupancy and intended to restrain the pelvic area of the operator.
- Buckles and latch plates must allow rapid single‑motion release with either hand (bare or gloved) while minimizing accidental release.
- Adjustment must allow a snug fit for operators from the 5th to 95th percentiles (ISO 3411).

Strap (webbing) requirements
- Minimum usable width: 46 mm.
- Material resistant to mild acids/alkalies, mildew, aging, moisture and sunlight (at least equivalent to untreated polyester yarn).
- Transverse stiffness to reduce roping; flexible longitudinally to permit adjustment at −40 °C.
- Tensile breaking strength (new material): ≥ 26 700 N (three specimens).
- Elongation: ≤ 20% at 11 100 N.
- Abrasion resistance: after prescribed abrasion cycles, median breaking strength ≥ 20 000 N.

Hardware and buckles
- All hardware must be free of burrs/sharp edges and arranged to minimize injury risk.
- Buckle release mechanisms must prevent inadvertent opening.
- Corrosion resistance testing via ASTM B117: specified exposures for attachment hardware and other hardware.

Performance tests
- Creep testing with reciprocating motion; limits per adjusting device (≤ 25 mm) and total assembly (≤ 40 mm).
- Breaking/loop strength: full assembly must withstand 11.1 kN tensile force without unacceptable extension or failure.
- Marking, year, model, manufacturer and user/installation/maintenance instructions are required.
