Specifies a method for determining the horizontal burning rate of materials used in the occupant compartment of vehicles, after exposure to a small flame. This method permits testing of materials and parts of the vehicle interior equipment individually or in combination up to a thickness of 13 mm. ISO 3795:1989 specifies a laboratory test method for determining the horizontal burning rate of interior materials used in the occupant compartment of road vehicles, tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry. The procedure exposes samples or parts (up to 13 mm thickness) to a small, defined flame in a controlled combustion chamber and records whether the flame self‑extinguishes or how fast it propagates. The method is intended for production lot testing and quality control, not as a full simulation of in‑vehicle fire scenarios.
