Abstract
Overview
ISO 5084:1996 specifies an internationally recognized method for the determination of the thickness of textiles and textile products under defined conditions. Developed by ISO Technical Committee 38, this standard provides clear guidelines for testing fabrics to ensure consistency, reliability, and comparability of results across laboratories and industries. Notably, ISO 5084:1996 is not suitable for textile floor coverings, nonwovens, geotextiles, and coated fabrics, which are covered by different standards.
