ISO 5420 relates to reamers and shows the various types in common use and associated geometrical definitions. In addition to terms given in the three official ISO languages (English, French and Russian) ISO 5420 gives the equivalent terms in german, Italian, Dutch and Slovak languages.

ISO 5420:1983 - "Reamers - Terms, definitions and types" is an international vocabulary standard that defines geometrical terms and common types of reamers. Published in 1983, it gives rigorous, internationally valid definitions of reamer features (axis, shank types, flutes, taper lead, bevel/chamfer, cutting diameter, helix angle, etc.) and illustrates them with figures. The standard follows the tool‑in‑hand reference system of and includes equivalent terminology in several European languages in addition to the three official ISO languages (English, French, Russian).
